The Biltmore is a historic house near Asheville, built in 1895 for George Washington Vanderbilt. Now, it stands as a museum and popular tourist attraction, particularly during the holiday season. People travel from near and far to see the extravagant decorations and capture photos at the best picture spots. If done correctly, the Biltmore can be an entire day trip.
Aside from the house itself, the Biltmore Village and Antler Hill Village house many stores like Southern Tide, Vineyard Vines, and many local spots that can keep your friends and you occupied for hours. Don’t go in a rush! Be sure to relax and take your time walking around and enjoying the scenery.
Part of that walking around will no doubt be devoted to capturing pictures in the best spots. I recommend the South Terrace under the pergola and the famous ‘Proposal Spot’. For the best outdoor Instagram pictures, go from November 1st to January 5th. Until January 4th, there are also interior tours that let you experience the lights. You can even do a candlelit tour by evening through the Biltmore House itself.
